Moises Ortiz is a contemporary visual artist based in L.A., California and graduated from the Faculty of Arts and Design of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Moises holds a Masters degree in art and design. Moises was born in Mexico City in 1981, a multicultural and dynamic city source of inspiration for many contemporary artist. As an award winning graphic artist, he’s been able to work on the commercial field for more than 15 years.
Everything started with an obsession with drawing at a young age, which lead to pursuing anything related to a creative process, By discovering graffiti in 1994, he was able to discover a whole new perspective of plastic arts, anything around him from that moment on push him to seek a career in the creative field. As a post-graffiti artist Moises represents the evolution of style inspired by a formal Art education, totally influenced by the cubist movement. The pursue it’s own style lead him to experiment with different techniques, medias and substrates. His variations are crafted from both traditional and modern language. There’s very specific elements in the composition of his work, the power of the shapes as an structural guide, as well as it’s dependence from one an other. He believes that every shape is important, As in life, every part of it has a purpose, and everything was predetermined to exist. The color saturation as an emotional factor on the composition, clearly the use of a vast pallet allows him to have a maximum contrast; a determinant factor to engage with the spectator Moises’s art is completely emotional and experimental even thought there’s a formal design structure. His work explores the relationship between immediate interpretation, opinion and judgement.
